The Kittenberger Gardens, situated only a few kilometers from the towns of Krems and Langenlois, are nestled in the gently rolling hills of the southern Waldviertel, the densley wooded region of Lower Austria.

There garden lovers will discover and experience a new dimension of natural garden culture, while meandering along winding garden paths. Over thirty themed gardens invite you on a journey through gardening culture: discover enchanted nooks, expansive views, intricate paths, seemingly never-ending bursts of color, a multitude of geographical variety, and horticultural perfection.

In the Tuscan Garden , among stone columns and impish cherubs, fragrant herbs and delicate lemon blossoms spread their intoxicating scent. The gorgeous views and the sheer multitude of lush vegetation invoke the essence of a Mediterranean vacation.

In the Water Garden (Gesundheitswassergarten), a source of well-being, stress simply floats away: the babbling brook seeks its path towards the pond, which serenely focalizes the garden like an oasis. At this natural pool, the entire spectrum of activities can unfold: swimming, Kneipping (a therapeutic wading cure), floating or simply surrendering to bliss.

The Garden of the Senses invites communion with nature and the engagement of the senses: feeling the soft grass underfoot, hearing the gentle ripple of the water, seeing the bounty of colorful flowers and the intricate shapes of the leaves, tasting the homegrown fruits, and smelling the perfume of the herbs and fragrant plants.

In the Garden of Japan, embued with the flair of the Far East, the Japanese principles of beauty await you: infusing nature and human alike with harmony and serenity.

The Rose Garden enchants with an abundance of blossoms, fragrances and the beguiling petal shapes of the unsurpassed rose.

In the Garden Bistro, Austria's first garden chef, Georg Luger, offers a new dimension of culinary delights: a veritable feast for the senses: seeing, feeling, hearing, smelling, and above all, tasting. Favorite dishes are artfully enhanced with herbs and vegetables from the gardens, and are served lovingly garnished. Fine wines from the surrounding Kamptal and regional, natural fruit juices compliment the culinary delights. The ambiance of the al fresco dining area amidst the garden, is unique and unsurpassed. The eye roams across the rarities of the Garden of Japan to the vines of the Tuscan Garden.

Among the sounds of the merrily cascading water-falls, the gentle chirping of birds and the wind rustling through the leaves, everyday stress is quickly forgotten, and a walk through the Kittenberger gardens beckons.

In the garden center, spanning over 5000 square meters ( more than one acre), a wide variety and a wonderful selection of top-quality plants, flowering shrubs and herbs await you. Our competent gardeners will be delighted to assist you with their expertise and help you choose the most beautiful plants.
